Why is WhatsApp not working? Is WhatsApp down? A large number of WhatsApp users asked this question globally. Many complained about messages not being sent while some said the problem is with the aap.  According to Downdetector around 600 reports were received on 12 April about a WhatsApp outage at 5:30 p.m. (IST), while 3101 reports were registered around 7:30 p.m. The outage tracking website reported that 88% users complained that they are unable to send messages through WhatsApp while 10 percent complained that the app is not working at all. Only 2 percent reported to face issues while logging in. 

WhatsApp users from India to the US indicated problems while using the aap, many sharing screenshots on other social media platforms. 

X, Reddit Down in March 

It is not an unusual incident that a social media platform is facing global outage. In March, Reddit and X were also reported to be down for hours. In 2024, Reddit even went viral for tweeting ‘Sorry, Sorry, Sorry, ’ after three consecutive outages. This time, WhatsApp screenshots are being shared and it is not for the right reasons. 

As the social media platform WhatsAap refrained from commenting on the causes of the outage, it could be speculated that server failure, software bug, or network issue could be the potential causes of such global outage.
