WhatsApp is rolling out a new feature called “Advanced Chat Privacy” that takes your message privacy a step further. With this update, no one in the chat can export messages or automatically save media to their device. It also disables the ability to mention “Meta AI” or interact with it in messages. This feature is designed to make group conversations more secure especially in situations where people don’t know each other well but are sharing important or personal information.

Ideal for Sensitive Groups and Private Sharing

Let’s say you’re discussing something like health challenges in a support group, or organizing a community project. This new setting ensures that your chats stay within the group. It helps build trust among participants by limiting how the information can be shared. WhatsApp notes that while screenshots are still possible for now, they plan to introduce more protections in the future so blocking screenshots might be on the way.

You can enable the setting by opening the chat, tapping the name at the top, and selecting “Advanced Chat Privacy.” The feature is being gradually rolled out across both individual and group chats. Even though WhatsApp already uses end-to-end encryption, this feature gives users another solid layer of privacy. It adds to other tools like disappearing messages and chat lock, giving you more control over your digital conversations.
